Celeste Copping

This fantastic illustrative artist is currently showing in our Christmas Affordable Art Market – do pop in and have a look!

Born in Suffolk, Celeste Copping spent most of her childhood immersed in books such as Roald Dahl, Charles Dickens, and the very funny Sue Townsend. She always loved to draw and paint, and graduated from the University of the West of England in Bristol 2002, with a BA Hons in Illustration.

“During my studies I became deeply inspired by the art and films of Tim Burton. I still admire his use of sinister imagery, and hauntingly fantastical characters. Other Illustrators include Jordin Isip, Denis Zilber, and Brad Holland. My paintings focus on both figurative and animal characters, with themes that are sometimes considered dark, humourous, or both. My favourite materials are using Acrylic on stretched cartridge paper.”

Celeste currently live in Hertfordshire with her two mischievous Bengal cats Vinnie and Eugene, and her husband Ben.

Katie Lynn

The first in a series of blogs about the 28(!) artists current showing work in our Christmas Affordable Art Market.

Do pop in and have a browse  if you haven’t already!

Katie Lynn has lived in the Saffron Walden area most of her life and studied Art Foundation at Braintree College following with a degree in Mural design at Chelsea School of Art. Having experimented with lots of different mediums she found that the colour and the cutting of glass was what she really loved when constructing a stained glass window.

Since having her first child in 2000 Katie has concentrated on the children, but missed being creative. Having long wanted to explore kiln fusing she bought a small kiln two years ago and has beenexperimenting with fused glass pieces.

In 2009 Katie began making Christmas decorations including Stars, Christmas trees and snowflakes and sold them at craft fairs. She alsomakes rings, cuff links and cards that are available in ‘Talents’ in Saffron Walden and ‘Gifted’ in Thaxted. Katie is currently working on a range of brooches and buttons.

Last summer Katie started to look into how she could translate the wild, bold, bright colours and crazy forms of nature in to her glass work. This led to her latest and most exciting project “Flowers from Wonky Land”.

Collections of wonderful colourful flowers with lots of individual quirky bits added. The flowers either stand in a wooden base or can be hung on the wall.
